. . . President Morse Honored by Washington State Senate
President Morse, who is retiring September 1, 2008, was honored on the Senate floor on Monday, Feb. 11 for her 15 years of service to Western and its students. The tribute was shown on TVW, along with the rest of that day’s Senate activities. Link to video (advance to 8:30 to see the tribute)
. . . U.S. News Again Names WWU Top Public Master's-Granting School in Pacific Northwest
For the 11th consecutive year, Western Washington University is ranked first among top public master’s-granting universities in the Pacific Northwest and second in the West, according to the 2008 U.S. News & World Report college rankings.
Only two public schools are ranked in the top 20 among master’s-granting universities in the West, a region stretching from Texas to the Pacific.
. . . WWU's MBA Program Ranked in Top 100 Worldwide
Western Washington University's MBA program has been ranked in the top 100 programs worldwide by the Aspen Institute. WWU's program finished 87th out of approximately 600 business schools invited to participate in the survey.
. . . Kiplinger's Ranks Western as 38th "Best Value" in Schools
Western Washington University improved by 10 spots to rank 38th among the top 100 public colleges and universities in the nation that offer “a combination of outstanding academic quality plus an affordable price tag,” according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. In its February issue, Kiplinger’s magazine ranks Western 38th on its list of the 100 Best Values in Public Colleges in the United States. The magazine ranked Western 48th in 2007.

Western's Vehicle Research Institute has received a 2007 Brilliant Award in the "Brilliant Innovations: Waste to Energy" category.
